Admission statement tending to establish the guilt or liability of the person making the statement. Conviction In a criminal case, a finding that the defendant is guilty. Adversary system The system of trial practice in the United States and some other countries in which each of the opposing, or adversary, parties has the opportunity to present and establish opposing contentions before the court Foster care A form of substitute care, usually in a home licensed by a public agency, for children whose welfare requires removal from their homes Material evidence Evidence that is relevant to the issues in a case.
